Notice of injury registration

When a new notice of injury is received by the Patient Insurance Centre, it is registered and assigned a claim reference number. The format of the claim reference number is PO-yyyy-nnnn-nnn, for example PO-2012-1234-123. Injuries that have occurred in 2021 or later have the claim reference number PL-yyyy-nnnn-nnn. 

You will receive a letter from the Patient Insurance Centre informing you about the registration of your notice of injury and the commencement of the claims handling process. You will receive the confirmation letter in approximately 3–4 weeks after we have received your notice of injury.
